New Orleans, October 1, 2010... Lips & The Trips will perform at the St. John Neighborhood Association's Halloween fundraiser Saturday, October 30, 2010.  This annual event takes place on the grounds of the historic Pitot House, 1440 Moss St., on Bayou St. John, where Marie Laveau used to "hold court."

Food and beverages provided by local restaurants, all for the incredible price of $40.00.  Costumes encouraged; benefitting charity!   www.sjna.org

New Orleans, May 18, 2010...D.Lip Shus a/k/a "Lips" chosen as one of the Top 140 Characters of New Orleans.

In a publicity contest put on by the Windsor Court Hotel, approximately 300 people were nominated and e-voted on in a "Top 140 Characters of New Orleans" that culminated in a soiree at the Polo Lounge of the Windsor Court.

Not everyone showed up, most notably, "Freak," who despite having passed away several years ago, was a fond favorite. 

But crowd favorites in attendance were Deacon John, Angela Hill and Lips' escort, Michaelangelo "Diablo" Colvino (nominated but not chosen).

Sidney Smith, Haunted History Tours owner & rock-n-roll photographer posed with Lips for a few photographs and paused to autograph her program. 

Johnny Angel, Gary Edwards (Sound of New Orleans music producer), and Valerie, top model and bon-vivant, enjoyed specialty beverages and (appropriately enough) cheese balls. 

Warren Woods "St. Patrick" and Bubbles helped rack up the hilarity quotient; not to mention, Lips' pal and former personal bartender (from the Tricoocoo House), Ms. Lisa Hix, (who nominated her).

50 Ambassadors were announced in the Living Section of the Times-Picayune, Thursday, May 27th.  Lips did not make the cut, but a big hearty Thanks to all who voted for me!!!! 

Considering all of those characters I know that did not make it to this list, I am totally honored and humbled to be among the Top 140 Characters of New Orleans!!!
