Pat Jolly's Silly Hat Birthday Party
Don't usually make this because it is a "school night" but had to come this year--after all "The Jolly Llama" carried a gorgeous ceramic Lips item on her lap all the way from Mexico!!! And brought it to my gig!!!! Had to bestow some Birthday Cheer and stuff back-at-her! Glad I did--got to meet her son and two grandchildren--cool! Little did I know! She knows tons of musicians from her photo-ing days and the night started out with The Pair-O-Dice Tumblers brass/ marching band. Love them! And her! Hope it was The Happiest, Dear Heart!!!!! It was a milestone! Beauty! You wear it well! xox

King's Day, Epiphany, My Mom's BDay
In keeping with my goal of more Phun, we trucked on down to the Phunny Phorty Phellas streetcar ride, HERALDING CARNIVAL! The Three Wise Men from the Krewe of Oak, the toasting, the countdown, the ribbon-cutting! EE-HA!
The Streetcar Ride! I know some folks in this payrade, and I got a cool wooden doubloon:as it turns out, from Queen Tracy Thomson! Nice! Her picture handing out trinkets from the streetcar window was on the front-page of The Advocate. Beauty!
Missed our Annual Arthur Hardy and The Jolly Llama Sightings, as we high-tailed it over to Buffa's and got an Al "Carnival Time" Johnson Sighting AND Hearing
as he blazed through his r'n'b tunes, charming the crowd and we all erupted and danced merrily to "It's Carnival Ti-i-ii-ii-iiime"!!! Johnny Bedford attended, along with Rheta & Hubby, pal Liz K and Hubby from Spain, and a BeeDay Celebrant. WoW!
Great start to the Season, a very short one as Mardi Gras is February 9th. We will be packing it in!

Lips & The Trips, Mahogany Hall Jazz Club
Love the new club we have been playing since the Summer. Thank you, Tony Seville! As usual, the stalwart Trips kept me uplifted and we had some visits from some friends!
Love being back in "The Club Scene."
January 14, 2016
Received some sad news today that Jimmy Glickman passed from our sight. A friend to all, Jimmy would often give me and many others words of encouragement and love through many charitable means. He would say to me, "Let me see those eyes of wonderment.'" I am not the only one who sees you playing harps up there with the Angel Band, making it bad-ass as you can be. Love you so much. Will miss you a big bunches, always thought I could drop in on you down the street any time....
Condolensces to all his Loved Ones. God Bless!

VCPORA "At Home in the Vieux Carre"-- Carnival Ed.
The Vieux Carre Property Owners and Residents Association sponsors an open house of French Quarter pads and I jump at the opportunity to tend bar for them--which amounts to pouring vino for some new friends living and loving The French Quarter.
I was super-excited tonight because on my bike-ride there I had to come down Burgundy Street (due to the one-ways) and I spotted Jessica Lange at her gate, talking to a tall, dark and handsome sort. I was taken aback and then remembered I had heard she lived in the FQ. Saw a mother and two kids across the street and asked! She said, I think so. I went back and I could not help myself--I hollered, "You are beautiful, I love you, I can't take my eyes off of you." She of course, made a hasty retreat, ending their conversation (what a jerk I am, but I could not stop myself--I LOVE HER!) I watched that stupid show American Horror-Coven only because she was so enchanting in it. Angela Basset was also as Marie Laveau, but there's something about Jessica Lange...
The house was nice, too, a rare Victorian Queen Anne in the Quarter and I got to meet some cool and interesting folks and hang out with some ole acquaintances, namely Fred Robertson (who was escorting Alesandra) and Peter Patout (cousin to Leigh McGowen), who had a personal Jessica Lange story! He had given her a lift home from a party at a mutual friends. He didn't think it was any big deal--I was elated to hear of her down-to-earth-ness!!!
Saw Allison and her friend Anastasia, and Alesandra regaled us with tales of the places she had lived, one of which was across the back porch from where we were standing! Also, the corner apartment in the Pontalba, and the first skyscraper, my favorite building--the one described in the George Washington Cable book--she said it had not changed since then! Beauty! Always wanted to see the inside of it. Looks like they haven't messed with it much from the outside.
As usual, Cafe Amelie supplied a delicious cocktail, created by Bartender Extraordinnaire, Joey!

Annual Offbeat Awards Party
Been hitting this Shindig since I moved to town in 1996. Lots of fun with ole pal musicians. Saved a seat for Al "Carnivaltime" Johnson, but the next day he told me "I can't go to everything!" True, true!
Michael & I scored a table by the downstairs stage and sampled some of Mona's delectables. Sat next to:
Walter "Wolfman" Washington's bass player, Jack Cruz, always teases me and when he walked in tonight he goes, "You have to sit in with us, we have no material!" He always gets me--one time he told an audience member who had requested some blues that if I sat in with the band he'd have to go home and take a shower!!!! Got to hear some of The Roadmasters fabulous stuff!
My Honey with Ole Loyola Bud, now Big-Grammy Guy, Reid Wicke
Kim & Her Entourage!
Loved rubbing elbows with the likes of Guitar Slim, Jr., Mason Ruffner and Clint Maegden with his wife Helen Gillet!!! Thank you, Jan Ramsey!!!
January 22, 2016
Lips & The Trips, Mahogany Jazz Hall
Trips Guitarist Mark Fowler and Drummer Dale Latino & myself tripped the light fandango as more friends showed up to be with us! Especially for the weather being so darn chilly, we were happy folks wanted to come warm themselves by the fires of Absinthe!
Thank you, Patty for bringing Cynthia and Deb; and for Liz K (Johnny B.'s pal from Spain) bringing her guy and a gal from Sweden (ooooh la la!); Elaine & her friend; and our new pals from Anaconda and Butte, Montana: Ricco, Chad & Wishbone, here (see all pix to the right) with their conventionering wives, Christine, Megan and Julie! Great meeting you! Maybe we can get them together with The Campbell Rugby Clan some time!
Thank you, John & Sasha, and especially cool Owners Tony Seville who showed up with his gorgeous wife, Ms. "T."

Phunny Phorty Phellas M.G. Luncheon
Got invited via 2015 Queen Jolly Llama and enjoyed the 2016 Queen Tracy Thomson's presentation of butterfly beatufy!
Had never been inside Grit's and it is larger than you can tell from outside. Ran into Hubie Vigieux
Sharon and the two dobermans, Max & Honey, out running in the park and getting a bucket of ice.
Saw 2013 Queen Constance,
who had invitied us to her "Coronation Luncheon," the one held at Frankie & Johnny's--but Grit's seems like a much better place, especially if one "E L" would stop standing in front of the slide projector...
January 29, 2016
Krewe of Cork
Mardi Gras Madness begins as the Krewe of Cork hit Royal Street with their 2016 Vintage. These folks' love of the grape is only surpassed by their inventive costuming.
Was disappointed to not see Tony & Donna this year, but ecstatic to spot Carl LeBoeuf--or his friends spotted me--he was hard to catch until I heard his voice. Zany Cat! Love that guy! Miss him!
Uptown Parades: Oshun & Cleopatra
Attended a Parade Party with M. and Robin Phillips--had a ball with free booze and food and their excellent company. Fun to view the Parade from the balcony, but more fun when we went down to the street--the last float a very generous lady handed out glass beads to all and R. & I scored!!!!
January 30, 2016
First Day Parades!
The weather was spectacular--nice and warm and no rain. The crowds were well-behaved and the parades did not disappoint with their floats and throws. Marching bands, brass bands, dance groups and troupes all entertained as the Pontchartrain, Choctaw and Freret Parades all passed on St. Charles Avenue.
Hung out with Kendall and her Aunt Linda--visiting from St. Louis. Got handed a decorated wooden tomahawk in the Choctaw Parade! Wow!
One of my favorite krewes:
The wrasslers:
Snapped this pic for my favorite Cherry-Lover, Carolina:
That night Sparta and Pygmalion rolled getting the Parade Season off to a great start!
I love parading with My SuperHoney
Pirate Float in his Honor!
January 31, 2016
The weather continued to dazzle, as did the Parades: Femme Fatale (with lots of Lips items!)-- Carrollton (nice floats and costumed royalty, King Arthur (interesting throws) and Alla (from Gretna, now merged with a military parade) rolled this first Sunday of Parades.
Great day to be out with friends (especially my Best Friend:)
sipping a few Abita Grapefruit brewskies. Turns out it was Neighbor Jim's birthday and he and his wife Betty know Neighbor Claudia,
there with Pal Ralph!
February 3, 2016
Druids & Nyx Parades
Nigthly Parade madness begins with the usual Wednesday Night Ancient Order of Druids and the (fairly new) All-Female Nyx Parades. Nyx throws decorated purses like Muses throws shoes and Femme Fatale throws compacts.
Robin came out for some good catching and we did pretty well. The Nyxes are generous and fun. Former neighbor Kendall also came out with her Aunt Linda and staked out a spot on St. Charles Avenue.
I like the mystery of the Druids with their costumes and old-school floats:Got some good pix: ran into ole-pal from Church, Lyndia and Neighbor Tammy.
February 4, 2016
Babylon, Chaos & Muses Parades
I like the Babylon Parade more and more as the years go by. Not as cheesy as in the past. More of the old-style glory.
I had a Chaos hook-up, but it didn't pan out. Too loud & crowded--he did not see me. Did not stay for the Muses Parade--too cold and too tired (already!). Day job gets me up at 6:30 a.m.......
February 5, 2016
Hermes, Krewe d'etat, & Morpheus Parades
Had a hook-up for the 1st two parades, but only made connection with Mr. Hermes--caught two unopened bags of blinky medallion beads. Nice! Hermes has always been one of my favorites for their beautifully designed (Henri Schindler) and crafted floats--very lovely!
Krewe d'Etat never disappoints--Kendall (visiting from Mexico) especially likes the "Skeleton Parade." I must say they look rather spooky on the dimly-lit street.
We tried to move to a better spot on St. Charles, but on the other side of Louisiana Avenue was a non-family crowd, filled with drunken young kids--college-age??? Young and drunk--I once fit that description...Kendall and I both lamented all the trash on the street. Shameful, really.
The Fresh Market changed their bathroom policy and weren't allowing anyone to go, not even if you bought something--the manager said because of the Porta-lets on LA. Ave. Well, I wasn't that desperate and just went home early. Missed the Morpheus Parade, but I'd had enough of the trash and the drunks....hmm, never seemed to bother me so much....
Krewe d'etat included their usual floats, The Banana Wagon and did not veer from their satirical route:
February 6, 2016
Stayed in bed sick today. Ouch. Missed Iris, Tucks & Endymion Parades...remembered 2003 when M. & I met up at Lounge Lizards and tripped the Night Fandango--with their usual Thursday "Costume Night." I went in to get a gig from Lila & Chris and a guy dressed as a cowboy was at the end of the bar and I had to see what this was all about. Turns out he had seen me play at Checkpoint's and I remembered him from that night--tried to get him to come see me play at The Tricou House, but as he put it, "I don't go to Bourbon Street." Probably a good policy!
We had a big time, trading out outfits and dancing to the band (the drummer recognized him from Loyola U., but he didn't care!) I had such fun with him and two months later he called me for our first date and as they say
THE REST IS HISTORY
February 7, 2016
Thoth Parade & CottonFest
I was so excited when I found out Ruth Bailey was coming for the Big Mardi Gras Three-Day Count-Down. She brought her pal Jeny with her from Houston their first Mardi Gras Experience! Since they brought their bikes M. & I took them out to Henry Clay Ave. to see the Thoth Parade. The weather was superb and my total hook-up came through!!! I totally scored with (1) a ThothMan bauble head figure (Coool!):
(2) ThothMan cape (which I quickly donned), (3) a gold top hat and tiara (which I also donned!) The other G. handed me a dozen pink roses which I doled out throughout the day, bestowing love and beauty on all.
Hung with Minnesotans, Bob & Sue, and when he put on some gold beads, he thought he was Mr. T from The A-Team: "I pity the foo'!" he kept spouting--it helped him get beads!
I felt like parents bestowing Christmas gifts! R. & J. loved the Parade--it was a lovely, sunny day and our Fellow-Revellers were polite and sharing.
Spotted Lyndia in the Pussyfooters and the 610 Stompers all gathered for a pic with Ruthie. What a blast!
Cruised over to CottonFest where Lawrence Cotton was celebrating his 89th Birthday at a block party in front of his house and Jane & Kerry Brown's place. Mason Ruffner playedand I got to hold on to his guitar when he went to the Men's Room. Hope he got the drool off of it. Hahahaha! Host Kerry Brown on the drums:
Ran into Rae Horton's daughter, Ariel, visiting from NYC--her new husband had to work in San Francisco so she was seulement, waiting for her Mom. Rae came and threw me one of my favorite throws of the Season--a kiss!!!!
She shared with us a previous Thoth/Bacchus Sunday when she had attended a Thoth function at Audubon Park and on the way home her water broke--Ariel was on the way! 33 years ago! It was my first Mardi Gras, 1983, and I remember Laura left to go to Rae's house.
Wow. Very cool. Thank you, Rae, for all the Mardi Gras Love you have spread my way--you, your family, The Gipsons & The Hugheses made it so special for me that I had to move here!!! THANK YOU!
February 8, 2016
Lundi Gras
Got to cut out of work early as our bosses were absent. Had to take the newbies on their first L.G! First stop was June & Bill's Lundi Gras Party, poolside at the former Italian-American Hall on Esplanade.
We have played several outdoor poolside, courtyard parties over the years at this groovy spot for these groovy folks and got some good news that they want us to play their November 12th 30-year Wedding Anniversary Party! We played their 20th!!! Righteous! I still have the napkin! M. & I were just talking about how much fun that was--we got to go on the carriage ride and they supplied beads and Champagne--when we ran out of bubbly, Bill had the carriage driver stop at a French Quarter grocery store and stocked us back up! Wow! We'd never seen anything like that before.
Next stop, across Rampart to Erica Dudas' Juice Party to rev up on some fresh stuff. Really worked! Beet, carrot, orange, and various other fresh items. We brought along some of Ruthie's grapefruits she brought us from her yard. They were deelish!!!
Wanted to make it to the beginning of the Red Beans & Rice Parade, but caught them stopped on Royal Street making an unplanned stop at The "R" Bar. I couldn't imagine it any more crowded than last year, but it was. Saw Al at the planned stop of Buffa's and as always, he graciously posed for photos. [Please see Special Events for more pix of this creative and fun Parade]
Lost my red glove in the mess at Buffa's but managed to score some Purple Haze for myself and red wine for The RuthMeister. Accompanied the Parade to The Candlelight Lounge in The Treme where we took more pix, then headed Uptown for to see Proteus and Orpheus Parades.
It was cold and we were hungry so we went for Superior Seafood at Napoleon, the beginning of both Parades. Undaunted by the 45-minute wait, we got bevs at the Oyster Bar. Nobody would join me so I had to do a raw doz seulement. Quelle dommage! hahaha
Our table was near the window so we got to see some floats. Tried to hook up with our Proteus connection and he was bent over organizing his throws (?) drinking (?) while we jumped up and down yelling his name amongst the tumultuous crowd...
Both Parades had lovely floats, and the lady at the next table bestowed a bunch of cool Orpheus items on Ruth and Jeny as she knew someone in the Krewe. Thanks, Annette!
As we were leaving the restaurant, I remembered that I forgot to go to Kim & Paul's Bacchus Party the night before and I had really been looking forward to it. DOH! DOUBLE DOH! That's OK, I was cold last night and I am cold again tonight....hot bath here I come!
February 9, 2016
Mardi Gras--The Day!
Had a M.G. Miracle occur as I made it to Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Walking Club's morning prayer and send-off in front of Commander's Palace at 7:15 a.m. I had tried to make it years past and saw the recent remnants once at 7:30 a.m. Warren Hart hipped me to the 7:00 a.m. time and M. made it out there before me! Heard the Prayer and the Proclamation--it was like the Wild Magnolias last year--really Righteous! Saw Pete himself in the front of the float. The band rides and they have a bunch of walkers.
Made our usual Jackson Square stop but the Skeleton Krewe arrived after we stepped into Stanley for a warm bev:The temp was in the lower 40s!
Hadn't seen the Skelies "do battle" with the mean, so-called Christians in many years and their tactics are much better and broader--a band and signs "Blah Blah Blah" and "Why are these Christians so mean?"
Got Ruthie to come down and meet us and then we went on to Johnny Bees for bagels and Bloodies--
We missed last year so we had to come today. Love Johnny Bee--he's a classic!!! Rheta and Heinz were there, as was Tom "The Dick-Tator" McDermott--with a yam-what am!--
Wanted to see Zulu & Rex and only made it to a bit of Zulu on Basin Street. These parade trackers are aces! Had to use a slide-rule in years past. Hahaha!
Got our usual oystah samich at Verdi-Marte which was packed and they had a line out the door. St. Ann was passing--and chaos ensued--
Got some good pix--saw Rick & Debra F. in their "Have a Ball" costumes. Nice!--
Ran into Lyndia (The Pussyfooter from Sunday!) and her brother, visiting from Atlanta--
After our sidewalk picnic and cavorting with The Dolphins--
we skeedaddled down to the Backstreet Cultural Museum for Sunpie & his Skull & Bones Gang, Mardi Gras Indians and a big hello to John Sinclair and daughter Celia, and the Skull & Bones' mascot, Geraldine Wyckoff Edwards.
Had a bite and a bev with the gals back on Jackson Square while the sun set on a beautiful Mardi Gras Day, witnessing another M.G. Miracle--a computer snafu and we all got a free round of booze! Wow!!!! Nice!--
Thank you, Ruthie & Jeny for hanging with me! Thank you, SuperHoney, for another wonderful M.G. Season with you!I love you a great big bunches!!!
February 10, 2016
Ash Wednesday
"Ashes to Go" by Christ Church Cathedral was right there at Lafayette Square on my bike ride to work--wished I'd snapped a photo, but I didn't want to be disrespectful. The M.G. Virgins stopped by to see my office view from the 26th floor and we got another hug good-bye. Had a blast with them. Thank you, Gals! Jeny's first New Orleans visit and R.'s first M.G.!!!!!
February 13, 2016
Took in the new Coen Brothers movie, "Hail, Ceasar!" at the Prytania Theatre. The founder arrived in a wheelchair to see the end of the Saturday morning movie. Met the mascot kitty. Really great day for a great flick with My Honey.
February 14, 2016
St. Valentine's Day
Had a super-sweet super Valentimes Day with my Super-Sweet Super-Sweetie! He surprised me by showering me with bunches of gifts and a sweet, sentimental and funny card. I baked him a dessert!
Love my SuperHoney!
February 15, 2016
President's Day
Don't usually like to share fun, medical facts, but I had an inner ear infection which rendered me useless in bed with a huge case of vertigo for a weekend and the ear doctor wanted to make sure I had no repercussions so I got a hearing test at the Hearing Center, by where Eddie Bo used to live on Toledano Street. The Receptionist remembered him!
As it turns out my higher register is impaired, indicative of my years of rock concert-going. They gave me a set of earplugs I can wear for protection and won't effect the sound I hear supposedly...
February 16, 2016
Really happy to be back in the care of my chiropractor and his healing touch, Dr. William Soileau! If you ever need relief, he is the one--by St. Charles & Jackson Avenues!!!
February 20, 2016
Thought of Ruth Bailey as I was riding my bike Uptown--she said she decorated her yard and people take photographs--just like I am doing here--
February 25, 2016
Speaking of fun, medical facts, just a note of gratitude to all the Folks at Ochsner Hospital who took care of my Honey during his recent visit. Grateful for the prayers and God's Healing Love! Amen
February 29, 2016
Leap Day
Sadie Hawkins Day inspired me to commit my undying devotion to my Super-Sweetie!

Victor Jones' Memorial Service
Lyndia Jones' Father has been living here for many years now and recently had a stroke from which he did not recover. We will miss his loving, kind ways and his sense of humor. Thank you, Lyndia, for sharing him with us.
Met him at Unity Church (where the service was held) and he used to come see us play--used to hang out with him at Mardi Gras Parades and see him walking the dog around the 'Hood.
Many Happy Travels, Sir, you are with your wife now! Bless you and Yours!
March 11, 2016
Lips & The Trips at Mahogany Jazz Hall
Had some fun with ole pal, Kendall & her Entourage, as well as with new pals, including Albert & his wife from L.A! Love that place and a special thanks for Trips Guitarist Mark Fowler and Trips Drummer Dale Latino for their talent and loooooooooooove!!!!
Thank you also to owner Tony & his wife, Barkeep Sosha & DoorPerson Extraordinnaire, John!
March 12, 2016
Annual Irish Channel Parade
Were we speaking of fun?!!! M. & I met up with Kendall and her Lil Buddy, Kingston
for an afternoon of parading. Been attending this parade (1997) since I first moved to town--used to go with C. at Magazine & Josephine Street, then I moved there. I was astounded at a parade that threw food! All the delights for the making of an Irish Stew--especially the cabbages! Also onions, garlic, carrots!
Didn't get many vegetables this year. The Parade is larger than ever and due to the construction, went straight up Magazine Street instead of coming by our pad on Louisiana Avenue. We set up shop and chairs behind the barricade at Breaux Mart. Was packed!!!
Was fun to see 3-1/2 year old Kingston getting lots of attention and throws. He is into flowers and came over to get some for planting at his house. What a Doll!
March 12, 2016
My friend at work, Miss Caitlin had her baby!
A little girl, Fisher, welcome to the Earth, Little One!!!!
March 17, 2016
Downtown Irish Parade
Met up with Johnny Beeee & Co. at Sciro's on Royal Street for the Downtown Irish Parade. This Parade has grown as well, but it was "small-time" enough to be fun. Especially with David & his wife from Rockaway Beach, N.Y. and her sister, Chris and husband Todd from Connecticut. We pointed out Chris to the Parade-Throwers and they really threw! She weighed about 25 more pounds than when she arrived!!! Thanks, Y'All, for a fun St. Patrick's!!!!
March 18, 2016
Lips & The Trips at The Fairgrinds
Started up our Springtime Fairgrinds gigs again--the usual third Friday of the month, Babys!!!! Come on out and hear some live, local music, OK?
Had a big time when Karen & Steve Marsh brought their daughter, son-in-law and grandson(!) Donovan, our newest, biggest fan (although he's rather short!)
Matt joined long-time Trips Guitarist Mark Fowler and myself on the drums and it was a True LoveFest!
Playing earlier now because they close at 8:30, so we start at 7:00 p.m. Just in time for Swirl's Friday Wine Tastings--woohoo!
The Famed & Fabulous Joe Cabral stopped by and offered to buy my car...
March 19, 2016
St. Joseph's Day
St. Joseph's Day has not fallen on a weekend in a while, so got to cruise with my Buddy, Rev. M.--went far afield since I normally go at my lunch hour from the office: started out at St. Joseph's Church on Tulane Avenue. Huge place that is now surrounded by the new LSU Med Center buildings. Remember attending a St. Joseph's service there "back in the day" with Ralph Gipson when we both worked downtown. The last time I was there was about 2002 and the Celebration has grown immensely since. Seemed more like Disneyland then a sacred time of worship, but that's what happens when a good thing gets known...However, they were praying at the Altar for people so that was still sweet. Saw Kathy S. there, still grieving from her loss. Hoping the Sweetness prevailed and she is feeling more at peace.
Drove out to the Bywater to Blessed Seelos on Dauphine -- ran smack dab into Debra O.! who was with visiting pals from California.
Just started to sprinkle and I got chilled. The Church was being set up with palms for the morning and the Altar was back in the Rec Center. Had never been inside this beautiful Church, celebrating its 150th Anniversary.
Next stop: St. Augustine's in the Treme where David bakes the bread. The rain had people breaking down early, but we snapped some good shots as you can see:
My favorite of the day was St. Stephen's (or maybe it's because
I am with my favorite guy), on Napoleon Avenue
although by this time I was cold and the rain kept on chilly-willy...got some food cooked up by the Church ladies, a grand tradition, and ran into a former fellow Unity Temple-goer, both of us lamenting over the state of our former place of worship...
Later, that Same Evening--
Congo Square's New World Rhythms Festival helped us witness the three Big Chiefs performing with Ivan Neville's band--Wow! B.C. Juan Pardo of the Golden Comanches, B.C. Monk Boudreaux of the Golden Eagles and B.C. Roderick Sylvas of the Wild Tchoupitoulas!
Later, that Same Night--
Headed over to Dryades Street to see the Mardi Gras Indians. St. Joseph's Night is one of the other times they come out besides Mardi Gras Day and Super Sunday. Michael caught some great shots with his "real" camera.
Spy-Boy Dow was looking mighty pretty! We saw Bo Dollis, Jr. and the Wild Magnolias start out on their march, but didn't stay long after that.
Went home happy and felt happy & blessed to be a part of this Community and its traditions.
March 20, 2016
Super Sunday
One of the three times the Mardi Gras Indians mask, we went to the Uptown Parade (Downtown Indians hold their Super Sunday March next Sunday).
Went to our usual spot on Simon Bolivar where it wasn't too crowded and we could get some good shots. It was good to see Spy Boy Dow dazzling in the sunlight!
[Please see more fauxtoes in the Mardi Gras Indians Section]
March 25, 2016
Good Friday
Another long-time tradition here is the walking to nine Catholic Churches, and the Stations of the Cross March. Not to mention, hot cross buns, which I scored at La Boulangerie before scoring my free cappucino
at Hi-Volt coffee shop (Vera had laid a freebie on me last year when she moved back home). I was enjoying the sunshine when the "Jesus Parade" (yes, Kelsey, we have a parade for everything!) passed on their way to Station No. 9 at St. Teresa of Avila.
St. Teresa of Avila pre-dates the Civil War and is sweet and cozy in there. My first visit inside--the bells disturb next door neighbors, Mason Ruffner, Brody & Sheila, but I love hearing them on occasion as I ride my bike home from work.
I got Mason out of the house (he was doing his taxes) and got to meet his friendly neighbors, Sheila & Brody--Remembered I had to do some music business later so scurried on to a couple more Churches--a former n'hood church, St. Mary's, in the Lower Garden which included the Seelos Shrine.
Really enjoyed hanging out in the back where I had never been--
The inside was swarming with Devotees praying-- and taking in the sights and good vibes there at the Center--
and that beautiful Church.
The courtyard out there is quite large and when I spotted a flowering fruit tree--that belonged to a cool old house on the street behind, I went around the front and it appeared to be a Community Help Center. In addition to everything else, they were growing vegetables on the side for distribution. Nice!!!
Hit the Music Co-Op where long-time Trips Guitarist and even longer-time Music Co-Op Director, Mark Fowler, helps out We Musicians with our business.
Made some "bootleg" copies of our 2002 "Dance Babys Dance," SONO Release No. 1058 (with permission from Gary Edwards, of course) that went down in the 2005 Federal Flood (as we are calling it these days). I want to take some copies to Barry at the Louisiana Music Factory! Thanks, Mark!
When I got home, the final Station of the Cross was at Our Lady of Good Counsel around the corner and I rousted Mr. M. to grab his camera and see the final service which I used to witness at the former Charismatic home on Rampart Street in the former Cloistered Nunnery.
Loads of goodness on Good Friday--
March 26
Sweet Jones, La. Music Factory
Took a nice bike ride into the French Quarter to hear Matthew & Melissa DeOrazio's band, Sweet Jones--at Barry's fine and splendid Louisiana Music Factory on Frenchmen Street. Was happy to attend as I hadn't heard them in a long while and never with their full band. Great stuff! Good songs, nice harmonies & par excellence playing!!!! Thank y'all a big bunches!!!
Brought my CD Dance Babys Dance to Barry for selling there--looking forward to my own "Lips & The Trips" card there again! Thanks, Barry, for being such a good friend to We Musicians!!! Love your bottle collection b/t/w.
On the way up Decatur Street, ran into Dominic, coming out of Checkpoint's!
Dominic "introduced" M. & I, i.e., he brought M. to Checkpoint's one night when I was performing back in the end of 2002! I got up on the ledge there and placed my foot on his shoulder while playing--thought he was cute!!! He was and is!!!
March 27
Easter Sunday
My honey and I spent a lovely Easter Sunday together, enjoying the weather on bicycles, attending the Chris Owens Parade--
Chris Owens herself!
where we caught a very cool egg from Al "Carnival Time" Johnson; went sidewalk-sipping at Bartonique and generally enjoyed the day and each other's company!!! Sweet, Super & Ressurecting!!!!
Counting my many Blessings!
March 28
Spied a dead black cat on my way to the dr. this a.m.--didn't realize it was an omen that my bicycle would be stolen from the lampost I had parked it for the several years I have been working at the building bordering Lafayette Square... bought an $89 Wal-Mart special--not pink, but a lovely lilac. Too bad the building cameras did not capture the capture as I would have liked to seen their happy faces scoring my lovely (albeit rusty) companion...
April 1--No Joke
Lips & The Trips, Mahogany Jazz Hall
Had some fun despite it being Dale's last gig with the Band. The street's still torn up and Mark tore it up on the bandstand! Bought Dale an Absinthe for his going-away present. He's been a grand addition--our Drummer from the Summer--he helped us out tremendously, in many ways, including recording at his DPL Studios these several months.
Thanks a big bunch, Mr. Dale!!!! Will miss your witticisms and your great rock drumming!!!
April 2
Brand Art Gallery
Tom Worrell entertained on his piano at Michael Guidry's Opening at Paul & Whistle-Monstah's cool art gallery. Love Tom! Love Guidry! Love Whistle-Monstah! Love My Honey!
We popped into St. James Cheese Company across the street--over-priced and trendy, but then what isn't these days?
April 3
Jean Lafitte Barataria Preserve National Park
Michael had a hankerin' to go out to the Swamp and I was interested if the irises were still in Spring bloom... hadn't been since about 1999--remembered the spiders...argh...seemed more civilized this trip--didn't see one alligator or spider, but some birds and flowers. It was beautiful and peaceful. Just had to deal with the noisy folks tromping through like they weren't among Nature's Magnificence. Michael snapped some great pix and I did okay with my phone camera.
Stopped off on the way home at that church, Chapel of St. John Bosco, on Barataria Blvd. in Marrero, on the grounds of "Hope Haven." Ihave been curious about it for a while and we took some pix:
Lovely day all in all!
April 6
Lips & The Trips, Mahogany Jazz Hall
Had another fab night at our new nightspot we have been playing since August. Matt El D'Orazio joined us again on the drums!
Cathy & Dale from an island near Seattle celebrating their 51st Anniversary! Wow!
Lauren and Antonio from my birthplace, Marin County, California, and the man who came the farthest to our gig, Emil, from England, all enjoyed a rollicking good evening! Thanks, Connie, John and of course, Tony, for hosting us. Love your Club!
Opening band, "Fraulein Freda and her Sleazeball Band" were talented and entertaining! Loved them!
April 8
French Quarter Fest
Super-excited because Mason Ruffner is playing after work for the FQFI tonight and I am meeting up with Paula Demasi, in from Houston here for a nursing conference!!!!
Michael saved us seats and Mason blew our minds with his Psychedealia--much more than last year's Blues & BBQ Fest--it's like he is really back! Here and as himself!!!
With Kerry Brown on drums (and as a fashion plate!) and the guy he calls the best bass player in the World, David, they blazed through some of his large repetoire, playing a song he claimed has "brought on flashbacks"--certainly affected me and I danced like a wahini with some other folks, and was surprised the whole group did not get up, but I guess they had been sedated throughout the day--me, I was dutifully sitting at my desk!
Paula showed up at the last song and she wanted to sit and eat at a restaurant. I was disappointed as I wanted to hear some music with an ole pal from Houstron!!!! I guess food can get the better of us, especially if we haven't eaten all day and we are in a Huge Foodie Town. Since I hadn't boned up on restaurants because the Fest boasted the best French Quarter eating establishments, I was at a loss and we ended up at a terrible tourist trap, once a very cool divey sandwich shop, now dishin' out the logo with no substance...they did, however, have the Strawberry Abita beer I was drinking at FQFI, so it wasn't a total loss.
And I got to chat with Paula and we called Beans Barton, her hub of 25(!?) years. They have two gorgeous, talented, smart daughters and I got to hear a bit of their recent accomplishments. Paula is speaking at the Conference so I don't know if I'll be able to see her much, but I will try to entice her out to hear some music with me this weekend at the French Quarter Fest!!! Some call it "better than Jazz Fest."
April 9
French Quarter Fest (cont'd)
Besides all the really great free music outdoors (what great weather!) throughout the French Quarter streets and the green space by the River, there are the films and panel discussions!!!
WOW! What a blast. Up-close and personal, unlike the Jazz Fest! On the streets and by-ways so you can stop in at your favorite watering hole or the Verti-Marte!!!
Of course, like everything, more crowded and bigger than usual, but we found the cozy, intimate spots, like:
Jane Harvey Brown on Royal Street! She is the Trad Jazz Queen! And that dress! Style, talent and a great band with the venerable Lawrence Cotton, Wendell Brounious, her husband Kerry Brown and an array of admirers, including my husband who took this photograph.
On the next block, The Joe Cabral Trio on Royal Street! Another set of royalty all for our splendiferous delight!
Caught the Iguanas by The River and saw Joe's family at both spots. Also Gary Hodges!
Bo Dollis, Jr. & The Wild Magnolia Mardi Gras Indians performed on the big stage--always a good time--he has a new band, including the guitarist I knew from The Tricou House, George. Saw Tom Worrell at Salt-n-Peppa, said he's not playing with them anymore...

Trisha Boutte at Tommy's
Turns out this was the only time I got to see Sista Teedy perform while she was here...loved, loved, loved it and her! Michael got some good shots of her, but I just got some memory-assistance--
April 15, 2016
Lips & The Trips at The Fairgrinds
Had a big time with the usual suspects! Had car problems again--this has been a cursed event for The FurryMobile. Fortunately Matt knew how to un-rev my engine (don't tell Melissa--hahaha!). There is a small throttle on the gas intake spot--had to take it in to R&S--thank goodness they were nearby. I thought I was going to take off! (You Hoser)

"A Night with Janis" at The Saengar Theatre
Jewels Sidiropolous, The Australian Janis Joplin, arrived from SF and bought us all tickets to go see this FanTabulous show, which Wesley had to take off two days from work to get over! It was that good and we got to say hello afterwards and sing a bit of "Mercedes Benz" with the ever-lovin' star of the show because we camped out Stage Right.
Thanks, Jewels! Such A Night!
April 20, 2016
Lips & The Trips, Mahogany Jazz Hall
We thought this would be a good night with folks coming in for the Jazz Fest--our personal Inaug Night for the Event! Too bad Glenn & Sharilyn Campbell were arriving at midnight (when we stopped playing!) or it would have been a Stellar Night. As it was it was just plain grand what with being back playing in clubs again. Matt brought his soaring brand of love to The Trips mix and our ole pal Jewels Sidiropolous sat in on her Janis number! Love, love, love these two Lufflies!
In the a.m., Michael & I participated in the annual "Bike to Work" event at Lafayette Square and got free coffee & snacks. Nice!
April 21, 2016
Michael got a good bill of health today. I am super-glad as this time last year he was having quite a time. Hooray for Healing!

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival a/k/a JazzFest
Very excited at Inaugural Day of The Fest. Volunteered with La Divina Gelateria so got in early to grab a seat for Mason Ruffner's 11:15 a.m. set at The Blues Tent. Last-minute entry! Great way to start it all off--an Abita and Zapp's to boot--I am in Heaven. (Hee hee hee)
Did his hits, "Gypsy Blood" from Steel Magnolias movie (Dave Edmunds in England did his record). Took some videos I was so taken by his performance. Played slide with his elbow and other guitar histrionics--real crowd pleasing stuff! Besides great playing of course! Saw Robin and gave her the seats next to me. Had saved for Jewels, but she was a no-show... always love Kerry Brown on the drums!
Hung out a bit for Shannon Powell's Tribute to Smokey Johnson. Cranston Clements there and a fellow playing the B3 that looked like he just got out of bed from under CCC. Very cool horn players, trumpet & sax.
After my very busy shift at La Divina, Glenn & Sharilynn Campbell (another last-minute entry!!!) came to relax at the L.D. Tent. Melissa and Matthew ElDeOrazio & Matt's Mom (from Virginia Beach) also arrived for some happy pix.
On the way to The Blues Tent, The Campbells & I mosied on past Donald Harrison, Jr.'s set at Congo Square--love him!
We were impressed with Walter Trout's blazing and searing set. Scary-looking bass player with a top hat and chains. A Vato-looking dude on keys--wild Southern Rock drummer.Apparently he had some sincere health challenges which inspired him to write "You're Home" wherein he was re-born.
Snagged some great photos with Tammy & Terry Clinch and her sister--glad to see Tammy looking so fab!Scurried home to see My Honey, was missing him...
Sat., April 23, 2016
JazzFest
Once again since I volunteered to work for La Divina (and their products are divine!) Gelateria, got in to get a good seat in The Blues Tent. This time for Johnny Sansone and his band of Reknowns!!! It's funny because I have had a crush on 4 out of the 7 folks on stage there. Don't get to see him play that often, but every time I am more impressed--he must be practising! This was a righteous set and "made" me drink a beer at 11:30 a.m. (to match with the salty Zapp's!!)
Band: John Fohl, guitar and harmonies; Joe Cabral, saxophone; Russ Broussard, drums; Joe Krown, Hammond B3; leftie guitarist; Jimmy Boswell from K.C. on keys. Love Johnny's voice and he plays accordion, too!
Love his songs/take on life: "You don't have to walk the plank on a sinking ship"
"No matter what you do, no matter how you try, you can't mix happiness with love"
"The Lord is waiting and the Devil is, too"--a Skull & Bones Gang guy came and took him off stage. Then he came back out throwing Hohner harmonicas! Great stuff! I begged the guy next to me for his and he laid it on me! Wow!
Glenn & Sharilynn were over to my right and I hooked up with them. They pointed out John Goodman sitting in the front row and I went over and said hello: "I am Lips, your neighbor on Coliseum Street." I could tell he didn't really want to talk with me, but it turned out find and he told me to have fun (which I took his sage advice).
The Gentilly Stage was packed beyond belief (waiting for Van Morrison?) and we caught Al "Carnival Time" Johnson's two songs, fortuitously! Love Al!!!! Clarence "Frogman" Henry performed after him as we walked along the track toward the Fais Do-Do Stage where Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue were holding forth--she and her band have really blossomed into something extra-special. Last time I saw her she had long blond hair and was playing at the Circus Bar, now with short red hair, she's a beauty with a kick-ass band.
Attended Irma Thomas' interview by Scott Billington at the Heritage Stage inside the Grandstands and got to hear her stories and how she has "been around since mud"! Heard about her 1st singing for Allen Toussaint, wanting to sing for Alvin Batiste, and lots of interesting tidbits: seems as though her songs have been "mined" by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding and on.
She did win a Grammy! She deserves it! Voice like butter! Just the best! Allen T. used to write songs for her, hearing her voice in his head. He wrote "It's Raining" in the john at his parents' home while it was raining. Sweet stuff.
Speaking of sweeet, meandered over to the Kids Tent for Square Dance with Lost in the Holler band. This was fantastic: I haven't lost my love for square dancing since the 5th grade! A beautiful woman named Amy (friend with the band) was my partner; her eyes reminded me of my Ole Pal Carolina. We did several different dances with kids that were really cute and fun, and had no earthly care for the steps and prcoedures. They were just having a big time!
Speaking of a big time, Ole Pal Donald Lewis was the m.c. as usual. Got my hug from him. Love that guy!
Scored a $4 Mac'n'Cheese from a no-line concession there in the Kids Area where the kiddles were having a blast hula-hooping. Woo Hoo!
John Hammond played The Blues Tent and hooked up with Jewels and The Campbells for a great set. Hadn't seen him play since the late 80s (!?) when he played Rockefeller's with Jorma Kaukonen. Wow. Got to hear all the old stories. His father of course was the guy who brought Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin to the forefront of the World's Consciousness, among others.
John has had a storied past what with going on the "Chitlin' Circuit" with a rented station wagon with Charles Otis, et cetera. Played in shows with Sleepy John Estes. Went with Big Joe Williams from Mississippi to Chicago in the early 60s. He was surprised to discover that he had lots of fans and folks that remembered him: John Fogarty came up to him once and said, "I saw you open for Jimmy Reid in 1964 in Oakland!" Mesmerizing stuff with harmonica and slide at the same time.
Loved running into Michael & Kathy, Robbie S. and took a Swelfie.
Did my La Divina shift and we heard Van Morrison sing G-L-O-R-I-A!!!

JazzFest
Worked at the law office in the a.m. to catch up as I have been at the J.F. (JazzFest) enjoying life, love & the Pursuit of Happiness! Had bought my own ticket (Rocky scores the cheaper ones in advance) so I had my day to myself. Nice.
Zipped through the Economy Hall Tent for Leroy Jones & New Orleans' Finest to catch an old favorite, Better Than Ezra at the Acura Stage. I must say this new configuration of the chairs behind a line is genius--leaves room for we folks that want to cruise up and dance or groove to the music up close & more personal--although they do have this giant space in front now that you pay extra for......whatever.
BTE did two songs from that album Deluxe from 1995/'96 that I checked out of the Houston Public Library and made a copy, listening to it a million times, and then when we moved to Coliseum Street in '05, Tom Drummond (bassist) and wife, lived across the street!
On the way to the Lagniappe Stage I ran into David Freeman, oddly enough coming out of the OZ Tent! He remembered me!
Was attempting a Jewels hook-up, but didn't happen right away...I was standing in the beer line at The Paddock (that's where you get Stella) and behind me in line was Jules from Brisbane instead! Really wanted them to meet, but alas...
Met Neil from Las Vegas (thanks for the hook-up, Kid!) while standing in front of Ed Voelker's cool band Quintet Narcosis with Joe Cabral and Rene from The Iguanas, Camille Boudoin from The Radiators and Michael Skinkus from everywhere.
Finally hooked up with Jewels and we attended Ms. Ruby Wilson's Tribute to Bessie Smith, featuring Brian "Breeze" Cayolle. Her performance was fantastic and she was kind enough to come over to talk with us and pose for pictures. J. & I had our own personal photog, her fellow Australian, who never sent us any pictures! Dangit!
Ms. Ruby is the last of a kind--has some stories! Sang "St. Louis Blues," "Sweet Talkin' Man," You've Been a Good Old Wagon, but you Done Broke Down," "I Need a Li'l Sugar in my Bowl." Talked about how Janis Joplin bought Bessie Smith a tombstone and how she bled to death because no blacks were allowed in the hospital in Clarksdale...
Enjoyed her love--a Real Grande Dame!
John Mayall replaced Johnny Lang at the Blues Tent and J. & I opted for that ending to our day. Hadn't seen him since 1972 when I was in college and he refused to play his radio hit, "Room to Move" because he had "moved on." My sister, Sheryl, had a bunch of his albums I used to listen to--he had some greats in his band The Bluesbreakers: Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, John McVie...heard that I left before he really got going, but I missed my Honey and wanted to get home and see him! Thanks, Jewels for hanging out with me! Had a ball!

JazzFest
Volunteered with those fine folks again at La Divina Geleteria's booth and had a fine time especially making sure the flavors were A-OK for serving. Hahahahaha! If you have not tried their product, please do, they have a new place in Baton Rouge and of course, their French Quarter location behind the Cathedral! Carmello & Katrina do it up right!
Cruised the Grandstand and saw a travelling photo exhibit of Louisiana life. Also, an exhibit on New Orleans culture, including an altar for those that have crossed the curtain, Uncle Lionel!
And my guitarist's wife, Pat Fowler:Sent a note to him about it. She passed on April 25th of last year...
Passed by the Kid's Tent to see Native American, "Gray Hawk Presents Native American Lore," and got to meet him from my ole pal, Donald Lewis, still m.c.-ing after all these years! And doing a great job!
Found out after I had signed up for my shift that Tricia Boutte (my fave!) got a last-minute Jazz Fest slot and I missed her! Drat!
Really enjoyed the music of Tedeschi Trucks Band, with visiting Texas Guitarists Jimmy Vaughan and Billy Gibbons! Had never seen Susan Tedeschi or her Hub, Derek Trucks, a fine and dandy slide player (who looks like he is churning butter--so serene as he tears it up!) They might be my new faves--they were superb! Especially since I saw Naylor and hung out with him! Super-Fine-Fantastico, WOW!!!!
Rode past James Micholopoulas' Jazz Fest Party at his Studio on Esplanade--great band, food & he flirted with me! DOUBLE-WOW!!
Msr. Mich dancing with his daughter!

JazzFest
Arrived early as I volunteered with La Divina and on the way to their tent I was overjoyed to see Dr. Bob & Nurse Lisa first thing on this fine Friday morning!
I was all excited when I saw the Gospel Tent's "The Gospel Inspiration of Boutte" and thought it was the Boutte Family, but I was fooled. I had finally got Jewels to join me first thing so we just got into the Spirito of it all!
Mosied on down to the John Boutte interview at the Grandstands and stayed for "The Life and Music of Allen Toussaint" panel, with Irma Thomas, Cyril Neville, Herman LeBeaux and Allen's daughter, moderated by Ben Sandmel. Always great to hear about our Home Town Hero, the late, the great, the wonderful...
On the way out to The Economy Hall Jazz Tent, spied three lufflies, Ashyle Keaton, Bethany Bultman and Erica Dudas, all dolled up for a day at the Fest! Couldn't stay long, we were up for a Boutte after this morning's letdown: and got Ms. Lillian Boutte with her fab band! "I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free, and I know he watches over me!"
Ran into Bryan Cook from Sydney and had the Australian contingent going strong.
Jewels had coupon for the crawfish pies--YUM!
Got us some more Boutte-ness, this time with John Boutte and his orchestra of reknowns at the OZ Jazz Tent!!! Wendell Brunious on the trumpet, Herman LeBeaux, drums, Todd Duke, guitar, his usual stand-up bassist (sorry, name?), Kermit's keyboard player (again, name?) as he blazed through "City of New Orleans," "Lipstick Traces" (reminded me of when I caught him at a Loyola University program), "Alleluiah" (with the assitance of Tanya, Robert & Arsyna Delay--very moving! and then cut short for time, a rousing, "Down in the Treme." Always great to see him and of course run into Rocky & Meg Seydel who hang out almost solely in El Jazz Tent:
Had time to buzz by the Fais-Do-Do Stage for a Quick Peak at Los Lobos performing "La Pistola Y El Corazon"--real good stuff, but I had a job to do at La Divina's Tent. Could hear Paul Simon at the Acura Stage, but enjoyed a Hello from these two more--
Kingston & Kendall!!!! xox
April 30, 2016
JazzFest
Got invited to a JazzFest tradition on Mystery Street via Jewels, who are old pals of our Hostess there. A House Party Pre-Fest of breakfast & booze. WooHoo!
That is not my lucky corner for I got yelled at by an officer of the law that I am not allowed to lock my bike to any "City signage." That is the corner I received a no-parking ticket last December when after getting a flat tire on Ponce de Leon, pulled over to safety at the nearest spot I could...
Jewels was hanging with a Player from Miami so I went on ahead and hoofed it on in to see The Deac first thing--it was nice, I had a free badge to get in that entrance and Deacon John's Jump Blues were at the Acura Stage! Perfecto! Hung with a bunch of fellow Deac Fans and was especially glad to meet Darelle Robbins' new guy--
The Deac never fails to entertain and I love how he adds different things to his already-solid show: songs like "Nobody Loves You When You're Down and Out," "Goin' Back Home to New Orleans," (always laugh at the way he introduces his horn players: "So-and-so used to be with Irma Thomas--now he's with ME.")
Of course his brother, Charles, was on the bass; "Congo Red," his sister on the congas; Bobby Diamond on the keys; Singer Devon; guest artist J. D. Hill on washboard and harmonica; and of course he broke out the electric guitar for his slide rendition of "Dust My Broom." Classic!!!
Got to see one of my other in-town favorites, Ingrid Lucia at the Lagniappe Stage. Love her voice! Always thought she sounded like Billie Holiday.
Ran into Kitty Boudoin, from her band Fraulein Francis and Her Sleazadelic Orchestra and we chewed the fat for a bit, while drinking...a Swelfie emerged...[Please see all pix to the right]
Stopped off at the Crafts Tent to view some Muses decorating some Muses Shoeses-- Before seeing another one of my In-Town Faves, Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes & The Louisiana Hot Spots at the Fais Do-Do Stage.
The rains began and I got cold...I tried to hang for a bit, but couldn't--I was cold and hungry to boot--stopped off at the Fairgrinds Coffeehouse to watch it pour and met some interesting folks, including Ingrid Lucia's Mom!!! Finally went home in a giant puddle...
Found out later that they cancelled the rest of the performances--Stevie Wonder did not get to perform and came out and apologized to the crowd!

French Quarter Fest--Film:
"Piano Players Rarely Play Together"
I had been wanting to view this film for a long time. Glad I got a glimpse into the fine talents of Isidore "Tuts" Washington, Henry "Professor Longhair"Fess" and Allen Toussaint, filmed in 1982. Really, really great to see Mr. Washington in action. Nothing compares to his smoothness. Hooray for the beauty of film. Great to see Fess and Allen, who looks like a "Happening Player" which he definitely was. This includes their rehearsal, but Fess passed away before the concert and his widow insisted that the funeral be filmed.
