That's my name, don't wear it out!
Before I was D. LipShus, The "Alligator of Amour," I was a mere toiler at "Book Sales," Xerox copy shop/used book store, an annex of the Maryland Book Exchange in suburban Washington, D.C., Route 1, College Park, MD under the tutelage of one L.R. Fox--Poet, Visionair, Recruiter into the Grand Game of Life!
Besides, changing LPs on the phonograph, making copies of body parts, walking L.R.'s dog, Alfred, we visited and made friends with plenty of interesting characters, enjoyed camraderie, fun times, and great slogans to live by. We still regale each other with those daze!
Xerox Corp used to treat us to their sky box at the big arena & L.R. let us sleep in the back room for one week (on our way moving out West) so we could stay & see Bob Dylan at the arena in October 1978! Niiice.
L.R. dubbed me "D.LipShus" a.k.a. just plain ole "Lips," across the street from the Italian Gardens where we used to see Danny Gatton play with Liz Meyer & The Flyers.
Larry made me Saturday Manager & I used to go to the Rendez-Vous for lunch to drink incredibly cheap pitchers of beer.
Dee Dee and L.R. tripping the light fandango at one of our parties:
Groovy hat w/plastic liquor bottles once belonged to fellow Book Saler (who helped me get the job) Cathy Ayers' (Harrington) father.
Even though "L.R." moved on ahead of us September 5, 2015, 3:15 a.m., we know he is making ripples and not resting in peace: R.I.P. (Ripples in Phun!) We love and miss you!
Thanks be to One L.R. Fox, My Hero who made me the Lips that I am today!
With Love & Admiration Always!
Hope that answers your question!
